{"id":3585,"date":"2020-08-29T01:16:08","date_gmt":"2020-08-29T01:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devel.www.cpanel.net\/?page_id=3585"},"modified":"2020-08-29T04:09:44","modified_gmt":"2020-08-29T04:09:44","slug":"amazon-linux-1-deprecation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/devel.www.cpanel.net\/up-next\/amazon-linux-1-deprecation\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon\u00ae Linux\u00ae 1 Deprecation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"lead wp-block-heading\">AWS&#x2122; Systems utilizing the Amazon&nbsp;Linux&nbsp;1 Operating System will not be able to upgrade to cPanel &amp; WHM Version 88<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"mt-5 wp-block-heading\">Why<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-5\">Amazon has set the end of life for its Amazon Linux 1 operating \nsystem to December 31, 2020. cPanel does not support end-of-life \noperating systems, nor does cPanel &amp; WHM support installations on Amazon Linux 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>cPanel will block new installations starting with Version 88 of any \nsystems running Amazon Linux 1. Users who have Amazon Linux 1 installed \nas their operating system will see a deprecation notice in the WHM \ninterface and will be prevented from upgrading to cPanel &amp; WHM \nVersion&nbsp;88.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you run an Amazon AWS instance on Amazon Linux 1, \nyou will no longer receive operating system support from Amazon as of \nDecember 31, 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By not being able to upgrade their cPanel \n&amp; WHM instances, Amazon Linux 1 users will be exposed to security \nvulnerabilities as well as prevent them from receiving new and updated \nfeatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-5\">As operating systems cannot be swapped out on an \ninstance, migrating to a new instance is the only course of action. \nUsers that migrate their content to a new instance will more than likely\n experience a small period of downtime while their domains\u2019 DNS updates \nto the new instance IP addresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits<br><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-5\">Migrating to the official Amazon listing for cPanel \n&amp; WHM allows new and existing users to take advantage of the fully \nsupported version of cPanel and receive regular feature and security \nupdates.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you can do<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>New AWS users can select cPanel &amp; WHM for installation from the <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/marketplace\/pp\/B07RRX2TVV?qid=1582647673338&amp;sr=0-1&amp;ref_=srh_res_product_title\">AWS Marketplace listing<\/a> to utilize the official supported version of the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers\n who wish to continue to utilize Amazon Linux 1 as their operating \nsystem are encouraged to use cPanel &amp; WHM Version 86, as this is an \nLTS tier release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existing AWS users should migrate their systems \nto new server instances that have the supported version of cPanel &amp; \nWHM installed. The <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cpanel.net\/whm\/transfers\/transfer-tool\/84\/\">Transfer Tool<\/a>\n in WHM allows for a simple and painless migration process. \nAdditionally, the cPanel&nbsp;Migrations Team is available for assistance \nshould it be required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AWS&#x2122;
