cPanel, the leading Web hosting control panel software provider, will release its first Microsoft Windows Server® 2008-based product line in beta later this year. Traditionally a Linux- and FreeBSD-based supplier of hosting automation tools, cPanel is collaborating with Microsoft to provide its customers with a greater choice in platform selection with Microsoft IIS7.

"Microsoft has shown a strong commitment to the hosting industry over the past several years," said J. Nick Koston, CEO of cPanel. "cPanel's Windows development team feels that Microsoft IIS7 offers a robust, high-performance Web server with increased security that the industry will quickly adopt. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and IIS7 with its modern architecture and support for legacy products was the natural starting point for our expanded product offering."

Program Commitment

As many of you know cPanel has been working for several years on a version of cPanel and WebHost Manager that will run on Microsoft Windows Server. Recently we re-staffed the project and committed enough resources to the project to move it along at an accelerated rate.

Beta Testers

We would like to thank everyone who tested cPanel Server Suite for their efforts and candid evaluations. Based on the feedback received from our first round of beta testing, we have decided to make some major changes to select areas of cPanel Server Suite. While these changes will push back further beta testing, they will not change the overall supported architecture that is described on our site. We look forward to moving along with the changes and will notify the next beta group when the changes are available for testing.

We would be glad to hear any comments that you have about cPanel Server Suite. Please keep in mind that we do not have the resources to add every requested feature to the product. We certainly will notice if many people have the same comments. cPanel Server Suite will be an evolving product and we will be upgrading it with new features as the web hosting industry changes.
